How DPD Tracking Works
DPD tracking shows the journey of your parcel through the DPD delivery network. The result can show collection, depot scans, sorting, delivery route updates, missed delivery details, pickup options, and final delivery status.
- Find your DPD tracking number, reference number, or calling card number.
- Enter the number into the tracking box.
- Check the latest parcel status, delivery progress, and scan history.
- Use the latest message to choose whether to wait, change delivery, collect the parcel, or contact support.
Where to Find Your DPD Tracking Number
You can find your DPD tracking number in your dispatch email, retailer order page, DPD notification, seller dashboard, shipping label, delivery card, or DPD app.
Some DPD tracking pages ask for a reference number or calling card number. In the UK, DPD may also ask for the delivery postcode to show parcel details.
DPD Tracking Number Format
DPD tracking references can include numbers, letters, or a long parcel reference from the retailer. A missed delivery card may show a calling card number instead of the original parcel number.
Copy the full reference exactly as shown in your email or card. Remove extra spaces, and make sure you use the delivery postcode linked to the parcel.
Common DPD Tracking Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Order Information Received | The sender created parcel details, but DPD may still need to receive the parcel. |
| We Have Your Parcel | DPD received the parcel and added it to the delivery network. |
| At Sorting Hub | The parcel reached a DPD sorting location for processing. |
| At Local Depot | The parcel arrived near the delivery area and may go out soon. |
| Out for Delivery | The courier has the parcel and plans to deliver it on the current route. |
| Delivered | DPD marked the parcel as delivered to the address, safe place, neighbour, or pickup point. |
| Delivery Attempted | The courier tried to deliver the parcel but could not complete delivery. |
| Pickup Available | The parcel may wait at a pickup shop, depot, locker, or collection point. |
| Delayed | The parcel needs more time because of depot delays, route issues, weather, address problems, or another interruption. |
| Returned to Sender | The parcel moves back to the sender or retailer. |
DPD tracking updates can arrive after a depot scan, driver scan, pickup shop scan, delivery attempt, address change, or return scan. Check again later if the parcel moved recently but the page has not refreshed.
Why Is DPD Tracking Not Updating?
DPD tracking can stop updating when the sender has created parcel details but DPD has not received the parcel yet. It can also pause during depot sorting, long-distance movement, courier handover, busy delivery periods, or local route delays.
Wait for the next scan if the parcel received an update within the last 24 hours. If the tracking has no update for longer than 24 hours, contact DPD or the retailer with your tracking number and delivery postcode.
DPD Says Delivered but Parcel Not Received
If DPD tracking says delivered but you cannot find the parcel, check your safe place, porch, letterbox area, garage, reception desk, parcel locker, neighbours, pickup point, and anyone else at your address.
Look for a delivery photo, driver note, safe-place message, or pickup point message in the tracking details. Contact DPD and the retailer if the parcel still cannot be found.
DPD Delivery Attempted Meaning
Delivery attempted means the courier tried to deliver your parcel but could not complete the delivery. This can happen when no one answers, the driver cannot access the address, the parcel needs a signature, or delivery instructions do not allow a safe drop-off.
Check the tracking result, missed delivery card, DPD app, or notification email for redelivery, collection, pickup shop, or safe-place options.
DPD Tracking Number Not Recognised
If DPD does not recognise your tracking number, the sender may not have handed over the parcel yet. You may also have copied an order number, incomplete reference, or wrong postcode.
Copy the number again from the dispatch email or missed delivery card. Then check the delivery postcode and ask the retailer to confirm the correct DPD reference if the number still fails.
DPD Pickup Shop and Depot Collection
DPD may send a parcel to a pickup shop, depot, locker, or collection point after a missed delivery or delivery change. Check the tracking result for the collection address, opening hours, and ID requirements.
Collect the parcel as soon as possible if the tracking page shows a pickup deadline. Retailers may receive the parcel back if you miss the collection window.
DPD International Tracking
DPD international tracking can show collection, export movement, customs checks, partner carrier scans, local depot updates, delivery attempts, and final delivery. Cross-border parcels may slow down during customs, border checks, airline transfer, or local delivery handoff.
If an international parcel stops updating after the delivery estimate, check the latest message and contact the retailer or DPD support for next steps.

DPD Tracking FAQs
How do I track a DPD parcel?
Enter your DPD tracking number, reference number, or calling card number into a tracking tool. Then check the latest parcel status, scan history, and delivery message.
Why does DPD tracking say order information received?
This message usually means the sender created parcel details, but DPD still needs to receive or scan the parcel.
What does DPD out for delivery mean?
Out for delivery means the courier has the parcel and plans to deliver it on the current route.
Why is my DPD tracking number not working?
The parcel may not have its first scan yet, or you may have copied the wrong reference. Check the dispatch email, missed delivery card, and postcode again.
What should I do if DPD says delivered but I have no parcel?
Check your safe place, porch, neighbours, reception desk, parcel locker, pickup point, delivery photo, and anyone at your address. Contact DPD and the retailer if you still cannot find it.
Can I track DPD with a calling card number?
Yes. DPD UK’s tracking page accepts a tracking number or calling card number, and it may also ask for the delivery postcode.
